Our Appraisal Process

  1. Initial Examination: Visual inspection and documentation of each item’s type, origin, and condition.
  2. Authentication: We use microscopes, UV lights, reference catalogs, and databases to verify authenticity and detect reproductions or forgeries.
  3. Material Testing: Precious metals are tested using acid kits, electronic testers, or XRF analyzers. Gemstones are assessed with loupes, refractometers, and diamond testers.
  4. Grading & Condition Analysis: Coins are graded using the Sheldon Scale; jewelry and antiques are evaluated based on wear, age, and preservation.
  5. Market Research: We cross-reference real-time market data, recent auctions, and historical records to determine fair market value.
  6. Documentation: A written appraisal can be provided for insurance, estate planning, or sale purposes upon request.
  7. Digital Calipers & Scales: For precise measurements and weight verification.
  8. High-Magnification Microscopes: To examine mint marks, hallmarks, engravings, and potential tampering.
  9. Metal Testing Kits: Including acid tests, Sigma Metalytics analyzers, and XRF devices for non-destructive metal content analysis.
  10. Gemological Instruments: Loupes, refractometers, diamond testers, and UV lights for analyzing jewelry and gemstones.
  11. Catalogs & Databases: Access to auction records, coin grading guides (e.g., PCGS/NGC), and antique reference materials.
